Assistant Project Officer (APO) - Malaria and Public Health

Over the past 40 years, Medical Care Development International (MCDI), the international health division of Medical Care Development, Inc. As a rising member of MCDI's professional staff, the Assistant Project Officer (APO) - Malaria and Public Health will work with the Senior Program Manager in the successful implementation of a portfolio of MCDI field projects focusing not only on malaria, but also on other public health topics. In this role, the APO will provide support with Project management (80%), malaria and public technical leadership (10%), and business development (10%).

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Providing technical and management input to the formulation and review of work plans
- Responding to donors and partners request for work plan budget modifications
- Supporting country office with HR and financial management functions
- Providing inputs in country work plans and reports
- Developing/reviewing and amending contracts
- Supporting the coordination, tracking and reporting of operational and organizational activities
- Assisting MCDI with tasks related to its technical leadership on malaria and other public health topics focusing on documentation, representation, proposal preparation and project management
- Assisting MCDI's Business Development division in the preparation of technical and financial proposals and providing news articles about the projects on a regular basis
- Any other responsibilities as may be assigned during the course of employment

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- At least a Master's degree in a technically compatible field (e.g. public health, international development), with substantial malaria-related training
- 1-2 years of professional experience, of which at least 6-12 months should be dedicated to the professional practice, research and/or academia of malaria or public health. Working experience in international settings and/or with international malaria donors (e.g. USAID, World Bank, Global Sanitation Fund) will be favorably considered
- Very proficient in the use of the standard Microsoft Office package
- Be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully
- Have high energy, clear goal orientation and strong work ethic.
- Have strong organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Be open to others' ideas and demonstrates a neutral position with dealing with combative issues
- Be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands
- Proven track record as an effective team member

Languages: General professional proficiency in French language required
